Presentation by Angus Provost to Norman Atkinson, Director of Cultural Services, Angus Council

Rod McFarlane Award
We present this Award each year to premises within Angus which meet the exacting standards of access and service provision for disabled people laid down by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Our Award for this year has been presented to the Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath.
Angus Provost Ruth J Leslie Melville, MBE, presented the Award to Norman Atkinson, Director of Cultural Services, at the Theatre on Wednesday 15 October.

In the opinion of the judges, the building has been adapted well so as to allow easy access for disabled people to the auditorium, assembly hall, café, staff facilities, and offices and studio workshop area. Highly Commended Certificates were awarded to Woodlands Primary School, Carnoustie, Burnside Primary School, Carnoustie, and the Guide Dog Training School, Forfar.

When Mrs Mackay, Panel Chair
man, and Miss Elrick, Panel Secretary, went to present the Certificates to the two Carnoustie schools, they were met by the Head Teachers, the pupils of the Pupils’ Council, and the Janitors.  On a later date, Mrs Mackay presented the Certificate to Mr Ian Flanigan of the Guide Dog Training School.
